Did you know that the area south of Houston Street, now known as SOHO, was one of the earliest Jewish neighborhoods in NYC? Beyond its renown as the historic Cast Iron district, it is less well known as the site of four major synagogues in antebellum New York. Later in the 19th century, it became an early center of the garment industry in the city (pre-dating the Garment District of the 1920s).

Your guide on this new adventure, Dr. David E. Kaufman, is an academic American Jewish historian with long experience leading walking tours of the historic Jewish neighborhoods of the city. Combining a scholarly expertise in New York Jewish history with a New Yorker's love for the endlessly fascinating streetscapes of his hometown, his tours are educational experiences like no other.

There is a significant amount of walking on this tour and WE TOUR RAIN OR SHINE, so please dress accordingly.

Tickets are $30 for Adults, $28 for Seniors, and $25 for Students. There is an additional $3PP when tickets are purchased at the door - pending availability as registration will be limited to 25 people .
